Dust Mask
From RISDpedia
- Not to be confused with a respirator, a dust mask simply keeps dusts from entering your lungs. It is not suitable for use with chemicals as it will do nothing for vapors or fumes.
- A decent dust-mask will have 2 elastic straps, one to make sure it is properly held to the nose, and another to keep it to your mouth.
- Dusts masks come in a verity of configurations, but the best over all seem to be ones with 2 straps, and a vent for exhaling.
- Note, that like most breathing protection, this can cause problems with breathing problems or Asthma, as it does slightly restrict the air flow. It is also no recommended sharing dust masks due to you breathing directly on them, doing so is a good way to spread germs.
- Contrary to popular practice and belief, a dust mask is not good forever, in fact it it is usually only good for about weeks worth of use.
