General Overview

Frisket can be sold in a single sheet or in a roll. Frisket is a type of wax paper or plastic that is adhesive on one side. It is a masking tool that can be used with many different mediums.

Tips, Tricks & How-Tos

Frisket can be used with many different mediums. It is useful to use it with gouache if you want clean lines between two colors. You can place the frisket on top of a gouache painting without damaging the existing painting as long as the gouache is completely dry. Then, you take a sharp cutting tool (like an x-acto), and cut the desired shape that you wish to paint. Be careful not to cut the surface of your painting. Peel off the piece of frisket and then paint the exposed area. The sheet of frisket can then be peeled up, leaving a clean border.
