Tips, Tricks & How-Tos

Plasti Dip comes in two varieties: spray or dip form. The spray form functions much like a thick spray-paint or sealer. The purpose for it is to coat or protect metal, wood, glass, rubber, concrete, fabric, fiberglass...

Plasti Dip- (dip form) Before you open it, shake the can to make sure the binders, pigments, etc are well-mixed inside. There is no mixing ball inside the dip version, so give it a good two minutes to blend together. If not, you'll get an inconsistent coating on your first dip. You will also get some clear coating instead of the color indicated on the cap. The dip version is very vaporous and tends to harden after you open the can. So, if you intend to use it, know what you are going to dip and plan accordingly. Also be sure that the plastic lid is kept tightly on the can when you come to use it again after opening. Mixing it thoroughly is important, and having the lid come off would be an unpleasant, and dangerous situation. The vapors of this product cause flash fires. So, don't smoke while you dip.

When it's time to dip, do it slowly, inch by inch, and then pull back out of the can with the same timing. Repeat coating can be done when the Plasti Dip is set. Gravity will pull the product downward, and the can itself has only a 2 1/2" opening so whatever you're going to dip has to be small, or prepare to apply with a brush and be attentive to drips if you want an even coat. It is suggested that you brush back and forth when applying it by brush.
