Tips, Tricks & How-Tos
|
|
To use:
Measure parts A and B by volume.
Mix together rapidly. Once thoroughly mixed, pour into the mold. Be sure you scrape the edges while you mix so that the chemicals are evenly blended, or else you'll get strange pockets of softer foam that are squishy and filled with goo.
Once mixed, it will begin to expand rapidly.
Let it sit for about 20 minutes, and de-mold.
Tip:
Although this is a self-skinning foam, it can be easier to de-mold and you can achieve greater detail by stippling a layer or two of liquid latex on the inside of your mold before pouring the foam. This will give you a skin of latex that will be more detailed, and easier to de-mold and to paint. No mold release is necessary if using the latex, since it should peel out very easily.
Be sure to leave a good-sized vent or two in the mold so that any excess foam has a way to escape, and make sure your mold is tightly sealed so no foam expands through the seams.

Not Recommended
|
|
FlexFoam-it is a "self-skinning" foam, but it's really important to have a good mold release when using it, otherwise it will stick to the inside of the mold like nobody's business, especially if you have a lot of undercuts.

Use in a well ventilated area. A chemical-approved mask is a good idea too, since the chemical reaction releases highly toxic gasses when the two parts are mixed.
